Every year, brands never fail to pull out all the stops for bridal. We’ve sees the lace, the chiffon and all tones of “off white” there are just roll out on runways every Spring. This year, it seems as if everyone wanted to take it a notch higher. They’ve made it apparent that “sensual” was an ongoing theme for many brands’ Spring Collection 2016. Some, obviously, pulled it off better than others. Having said that, here are the brands we think made some major waves on Bridal Wear.
Amsale Aberra is a household name for bridal at this point. This is why them stepping up this year isn’t all that surprising. Amsale has been known for their fabulously understated wedding gowns, staying true to the women who like to stick to the classics without sacrificing glamour. Their 2016 collection puts emphasis on a lot of backless detailing, shimmer and shine and a whole lot of beading!
- Vera Wang
“Captivating” is the only word that does justice for this collection. Vera Wang absolutely broke the mold this year with her extremely seductive dresses. However chic, this might not be for every bride. Many critics have described her gowns as “borderline lingerie”, showing more skin than the traditional dresses would.
- Badgley Mischka
This brand stays true to their reputation as purely “Hollywood Glamour”. Although arguably not too keen on breaking barriers for this collection, these gowns are still oozing with “flavor” as they were inspired by a bit of Latin energy. Mark Badgley and James Mischka took Buenos Aires in the 1950s as inspiration and it translates so well through this collection.
- Oscar de la Renta
Designer Peter Copping seems to be a real trailblazer this year, completely appeasing critics for both his Spring ready-to-wear collection and this one. A lot of attention to construction of new innovative forms, emulating a sort of softness without bring too conventional.
- Monique Lhuillier
Monique Lhillier is not only favored by the public, but by the stars too! At this point she’s had celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Britney Spears and Carrie Underwood walk down the aisle in her gowns! This year, she proves there’s a reason why she’s such a crowd favorite as she shows off some hints of daring colors in her collection.
- Pamella Roland
This brand shocked everyone this year with not only some daring color choices, but also with such a wide range of styles included in the collection. This makes it easy for any bride to fall in love with her gowns, as she mixes different silhouettes and fabrics throughout the collection.
- Carolina Herrera
Carolina Herrera has always been known for extravagant and breathtaking. While this year she may not have done anything out of the box, her creations prove that it is more important for a wedding gown to be timeless.
This year, many brides are steering away from opulence and are leaning towards gowns with a more bohemian feel. This is why Houghton is such a hit this year with their lace sincere and laid-back style.
This brand undoubtedly had the most romantic collection of the year. They also try to answer every bride’s need by constructing completely different silhouettes. Incorporated are a lot of jewels, floral embroidery and different laces.
- Angel Sanchez
Angel Sanchez snatches the top spot for truly speaking to the modern bride with their collection. Unconventional in all aspects, he pushes boundaries without putting everyone off. Sheer backs and odd cuts are everywhere, and we’re loving every bit of it!
